The installation of wordpress does not take long at all and your blog should be working perfect right from the start. But if you are looking for better performance, higher traffic and more stability I recommend you to follow 5 of my simple tips. It doesn’t take a rocket-scientist to come up with these tips. But its always good to have a little reminder of what to do when wordpress is installed.

1. Permalinks

Permalinks

Go to settings -> PermalinksĀ  and simply choose the permalink structure you would like. Personally I prefer a custom structure with category/postname. Presss “Save changes” and you should be done. If your .htaccess file is not writable you will have to do this step manually. Simply by adding the mod_rewrite rules to your .htaccess file from the field below.
